Our Funny Valentine
The Saturday Valentine’s Date shows went very well.
Kudos to Vinny for bringing all of his ‘love energy’ even though he was sick. Kudos to our bachelors who braved public rejection. Kudos to AMC Theatres for donating prizes for the winning bachelors and bachelorettes. Kudos to our mullet wig for making me stand out when our bags got searched at the St. Suplice afterparty.
The first show was filled with excellent characters: a high-strung IT manager, a pinata-loving poet, and an intricately-shaven smart guy. Our bachelorette weathered my portrayal of her with good cheer.
The second show was completely different in terms of energy. The crowd was younger, less in favour of seeing their friends made fun of, and more vocal. Also, one of the bachelors admitted to being averse to wearing pants.
Although not filled with regular audience participation, this type of show is so much fun because the crowd loves to see their friends being referenced on stage and they were very engaged throughout. Hey, did I just use the word “engaged”? Well, well, perhaps our little love experiment will result in an engagement! Or, at the very least, a free movie and popcorn for the winners.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Apparently, the 5.0. came in to the theatre, looked around, and left. And by “5.0.”, I think I’m using slang for “police”.
